Quantum Security Research

Quantum security is based on the primitives of quantum randomness and quantum key distribution. Quantum Random Number Generator and Quantum Key Distribution are fast emerging technologies. Although several commercial products based on these technologies are available, practical realizations still have gaps in completely utilizing the power of quantum physics. Thus, the main direction of Quantum Security Research at SETS is to develop efficient solutions/products based on quantum protocols by studying and analysing its security, to implement and demonstrate novel protocols, develop standards and security attacks countermeasures.

    Current Activities

SETS is involved in the design and development of a robust Quantum Key Distillation (QKD) post-processing system with an authentication module and is exploring QKD protocols from a cryptographic perspective. This activity is part of the DST-QuEST project on the ‘Design and Development of Fast and Robust Authentication and Key Distillation Schemes for QKD systems’.

SETS is also engaged in the India's first field-deployable quantum network (Metro Area Quantum Access Network) over the NKN network.

SETS is developing an affordable and a portable Quantum Random Number Generator that is capable of producing high quality random number sequences using the properties of quantum physics.

Quantum Network Security Lab is being set up at SETS.

    Research Collaborations

SETS has a strong research collaboration with IIT-Madras and C-DAC towards the establishment of a ‘Metro Area Quantum Access Network’. SETS is closely associated with Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad and IIT-Kanpur for the DST-QuEST project.

    Available Solutions

  • Key Distillation Engine
  • Quantum Random Number Generator
